WorkSnug on Layar!

3rd September 2010 10:42am
Yesterday we launched WorkSnug as a layer within Layar. This is our first step to providing WorkSnug to the growing army of devoted Android users. Layar is (we think) the world's largest augmented reality browser. If you're reading this on an Android device, you can click here to get going.

As we've previously noted, we're working hard on getting a full, standalone Android version of WorkSnug. In the meantime, enjoy WorkSnug for Layar!

For Local Insight: WorkSnug Ambassadors are GO!

19th August 2010 12:04pm
We're really excited to launch our WorkSnug Ambassadors Programme this week.

A WorkSnug Ambassador is someone with their finger on the pulse of the mobile working scene in their local area. They ensure WorkSnug's workspace reviews are rich, growing and they act as our feet on the street, all around the world. Want some local intelligence on the best places to work in Paris, London or Barcelona? Just ask an Ambassador! They'll be glad to help out.

This is a growing programme, and we're still looking for Ambassadors in some of our key cities. We're looking for active & energetic mobile workers, who know their way around both the digital world and the local mobile working scene. Key cities in need of an Ambassador include:

  • Amsterdam
  • Berlin
  • Brussels
  • Copenhagen
  • London
  • Madrid
  • Manchester
  • New York
  • San Francisco
Could this be you? Apply online on the Ambassadors page or contact our Community Builder Anke Holst for more details.

The WorkSnug Ambassadors Programme is kindly supported by Plantronics, Skype Access & Hub Culture. Leaders in the field of nomadic working, these partner companies lend their expertise & experience to the WorkSnug community, as well as ensuring the Ambassadors themselves are kitted out with leading-edge technology and facilities.

When, so many of you wonder, will WorkSnug be on Android?

26th July 2010 1:56pm
It's an excellent question. We began last summer on iPhone only. At that time the Android market share was very low, so we felt fine/smug. Since then, we've begun developing a Blackberry app (WorkSnug is for mobile workers remember...) and that will be ready to launch very soon.

So we'll be on iPhone and Blackberry. And I still haven't answered the Android question. The plain truth is that we didn't expect Android to get this much traction so quickly, so we've been caught a bit 'on the hop'.

Here's what we're doing:
  1. We're going to share WorkSnug with Layar, the cool augmented reality app which acts as a browser for all sorts of other people's content. We have a techie on the case this week and we should go live with that within days. When it's live, you'll be able to see WorkSnug's workspaces when you use Layar. This means any of the devices on which Android works. A partial fix.
  2. We're going to build a standalone Android app, as soon as we can. Certain commercial elements must be in place before we do this, and we're not ready to hit go just yet. It's quite an involved build, and building it good means not building it cheap. In the interim though, if you use an Android device, wait  a few days, download Layar (I bet you already have) and look for us in there.
Happy to chat about it: hello@worksnug.com
